FAQs
do you accept insurance?
Cultivate Counseling is a self pay practice which means, we are unable to accept insurance. We’re considered an out-of-network (OON) provider. I understand using your benefits may matter (you are paying for it after all). However, most insurance plans do not cover mental health care until your deductible is met. We talk more about why a lot of therapists don’t accept insurance on one of our Instagram posts if you want to learn more about why some therapists choose not to accept insurance. However, I am able to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance to claim any OON benefits you may have!
how much does a session cost?
A standard 50-minute individual session is $125/session, while a standard 50-minute couples/relationship session is $150/session. We provide a discount for college students seeking therapy services, a standard 45-minute session for college student is $75/session. Our therapist maintains a certain number of spots on her caseload to ensure each client receives quality care.
What’s a superbill?
A superbill is an invoice a OON healthcare provider, like us, can provide to clients who are paying for their sessions themselves, rather than going through insurance. Once your provider provides you with a superbill, you will submit an OON claim with your insurance either on their website, mobile app, via fax etc., We recommend giving the number on the back of your insurance card a call to see what your OON policies are, and if therapy will be covered and how they want to process the claim etc. We’ve had clients get their session fees reimbursed and/or applied to their OON deductible, but it really depends on the insurance and policy.
Can you talk more about restorative pricing?
Restorative pricing, sliding scale, reduced fee, every therapist and practice calls it something different, and it can be implemented in several ways. If you’ve read through our website and think we could be a good fit but the price of therapy doesn’t fit your current budget, please reach out! We hold a certain number of restorative pricing spots on our caseload to make therapy more accessible for people who feel like they could benefit from therapy services.
what will a therapy session look like?
We hope to create a safe atmosphere for you to explore and process what’s bringing you to therapy at this point in your life. We like to say we’re humans first, therapists second. Starting something new can be terrifying. We’re two (or more) strangers meeting each other for the first time, we have to get to know each other! In our first session, I like to spend some time getting to know you and your life and what what makes you, you. I hope during our time you can get to know us as well. We value humor and metaphors and may use those periodically in the therapy room. We will chat about whatever is on your mind and whatever you want to share. Our hope is that over time we will build a safe enough relationship to start exploring and processing the things you want more clarity, curiosity, and acceptance with.
